Brewing in Mid Wales

Bringing brewing back to Aberystwyth

Aberystwyth used to be home to a brewery called David Roberts and Sons, who used spring water from two wells in Trefechan, and malted barley from the oast house which is still standing today. The brewery enjoyed expansion during the 1940s, but brewing sadly ceased in 1960 when Hancocks took over the firm.

If you take a look at the map of Wales, there was a huge gap of breweries around Aberystwyth and north Ceredigion.

And with that, a group of 6 passionate about beer and providing customers with excellent quality brews, set up Bragdy Dwy Afon.
